In July of 2005 I was participating on my first important art exhibition at MIS (Museu da Imagem e Som) in São Paulo, it was the II Mostra Internacional da Arte e Cultura Surf, my artwork was selected to be part of the exhibition together with the most important artists from the beach culture. Walking around MIS, during a quiet afternoon I found Art Brewer and Craig Stecyk III seating on the museum's bench, Mark Sutherland was sitting on the floor with his back laid on the wall drawing with a fine brush and black ink, I did'nt saw his drawing but I guess he was making a portrait of Art an Craig. I came close and Adriano Vasconcellos (Alma Surf) introduced myself to them, I didnt know what to say or what to ask at that moment. it was like a blank in my mind, I just reacted as an usual fan , so I asked if they could give me an autograph, they did on the back of those print cards I prepared to bring to the art show, and I gave one sample for each one . So here is the autograph of Art Brewer and Craig Stecyk III, back from 2005 at the most inspirational art show I have been to.

Back to the eighty's, this surfboard was designed by myself toguether with Roberto Staditz, who knows from his old school background how to shape a real 80's model in the same style it was made back in the years . He had no doubt about shaping it with all the requirements and measurements (5,10"x2"1/2x19) we had in mind, there were no doubt it would work out for the waves we surf around. It's a functional model and it gives you all the excitment of surfing, it makes that turns so roundend and speed's up by just standing on, this toy surfboard is for kids to play. This model and the idea to making it, was inspired by another 80's model shaped by Fabio Gouveia, exhibited at the Festival Alma Surf 2009, now at Galeria Alma do Mar in São Paulo. GREEN SLIDE FILM ROLL

The learning process of making film photography is not that easy as it looks like, it is also a hard way to deal with patience, spending money and sometimes getting frustated or suceseed with your photos. So you learn the hard way that from many rolls of film you waste , only a few of this frames will appear nice. One experience in my process of learning (I'm stiil in this learning process by the way) happened somehow, when I had got my first slide film, FUJI , I don't know wich kind it was. But I shot all the entire roll during one week, when I was over in Hawaii during the winter season of 2005/06. During that week I went over to the north shore of Oahu, and shot some frames at the Pipeline. I keept the film until i could find somewhere to develop that special positive film roll (slide), by the end I mixed up that positive film with other color negative film rolls, and I went to Wallmart to develop those films. So the result of this next frames are positive films processed as color negative films.

here is our good friend "Gordo" a.k.a Pericles ,going up to check the box of water, with a little help of "Teco" to see if the bomb that pulls water from the ground was working out.

after several days of surfing at the Dune Shed, we started having problems with the bomb take pulls water from the ground, we didn't know if the problem was from the bomb or if the groundwater was getting dry. Well the problem of not having water was gettin even worst after all the things we should do with water, and we realized that we haven't water anymore, simple things like wash your hands, brush your teeth, using the toilet, taking a shower, or just cleaning the dishes, were impossible. at the second day we were getting really bored with this situation, and we were still trying to make the bomb work out desperately in vain, many dishes were dirty in the kitchen, the toilet was full of shit, and we couldn't even flush the toilet so we decided to go ask some neighbors for some water and stock water in coke bottles watergalons and buckets we had found. That water was only to meet our most needs, like cleanning the dishes and flushing the toilet, we avoided taking showers or waste it somehow. It didn't last long until we decided to go back home, and stop that unpleasent situation. We all had the conclusion that we can still live without eletric power, but we can't live without water. I really think that if people had at least a little experience like this, to live without water for one or two days, they would give it more value and would try harder not to waste all this water we have right now.

The Dune Shed Club, it's my uncle Digo's beach house, it is in the middle of the dunes, right in the middle of two surf spots that you can go walking from there, This house is over there since mid 80's when he, decided to make a little shelter over the surf spot he loved most. I remember once when i was a little kid, going with him at he's Fiat UNO, smelling neoprene inside the car, listening to Supertramp's K7 tapes. I still have an image in my mind, of that house behind , cover by sand at the height of the roaf . For me that's the most amazing surf spot ever!! One of the cool things in the house is the box with old surfing mags with some sand !! We try to to go there every summer to get some good surfing and live simply out of our urban and technological way of life, it's just pure surfing, good vibrations, beers and adventure.

Surfers travel long distance to get good surfing, but that's not cheap nowadays, for example, you have to pay 80 dolars to ship your surfboards, and you ask for a sticker like this, to paste over your board case, and it's not guaranteed they will treat your boards as a fragile thing !!

After the IV Mostra do Surf a.k.a Festival Alma Surf, all the artworks were published at Alma Surf magazine (nº42 Ano8), a few photos of the exibition were published at TRIP magazine, here as you can see beautiful girls were there at the OCA do Ibirapuera, São Paulo, and behind this pretty lady theres the surfboard.

The left side is Roberto Stadiz shaping the blank, is not quite the same board but is a similar model...
On the right side is the paint done, the surfboard was almost ready, the edge was painted in a dark white, almost like an yellow or brown white, like an old board, another resin layers were add, then the surfboard was polished and it was shining , ready to be sent to the surf art show...

I don't know the name of this plant wich it's beautiful, the surfboard it's a 6,2 singlefin shaped by Roberto Satidz, it was ready to be painted, that art was going for the surf art show: IV Mostra Internacional de Arte e Cultura Surf a.k.a Festival Alma Surf over in 2007 . I just remenber the hard times I had painting that board, the ink I used had a strong smell, and it was hard to breath even with gas mask, when I finished i promise not to use that automotive paint anymore in my life... I will post the result of this work next.
